Certain services for residents of Long Term Care homes are subject to charges above the amount of the monthly accommodation rate. These services are called “Uninsured Services.” The charges are subject to change and the current rates are available upon request. Notices will be distributed to the resident and responsible parties when charges are increased.
Examples of uninsured services are:
- Transportation to appointments
- Medication not covered under the Ontario Drug Benefit Plan
- Escort services
- Dental services
- Personal wheelchair maintenance
- Special activities or outings
- Podiatrist (footcare) services
- Dental Services are offered by Direct Dentistry.
Footcare services are offered by Spectrum Health Care/Dynamic Foot Clinic. They are in the Home on a regular basis. Appointments can be scheduled through the Resident/Family Service Co-ordinator, Annie Wong at the Rekai Centre at Sherbourne Place or Trisha Prasad at the Rekai Centre at Wellesley Central Place upon the resident has been admitted.
The Resident/Family Service Co-ordinator will assist with completing forms for the Assistance Devices Program (ADP) offered by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care for eligible persons. Some items that maybe eligible under ADP are hearing care, eye care and mobility devices.
It should be noted that costs such as telephone, cable or internet are above the fees paid for accommodation.
